@estaylorco Thanks so much for the kind words and encouragement. Reaching release candidate is a meaningful milestone, and I’m genuinely grateful to everyone who’s helped Aurelia 2 get here.
More than anything, this moment is a reflection of the Aurelia 2 core team’s persistence and craftsmanship over years of work. Building a framework is hard. Rebuilding it with the benefit of experience, while keeping the bar high for performance, ergonomics, and long-term maintainability, is even harder. They have done the unglamorous work, the careful work, and the relentless work to get to this point.
One of the most rewarding things for me personally is that Aurelia has grown into the kind of open-source project that can thrive beyond its founder. A truly successful project is one where leadership can transition well, where the team can carry the vision forward, and where the community continues to shape and strengthen it. The team has not only maintained the spirit of Aurelia, but they have also pushed it forward in ways that make me proud.
While I’ve moved on to other projects, we’ve stayed close. They’ve been gracious about bringing me in at key moments for feedback and perspective, and I’m thankful for both the relationship and the trust. It’s a rare thing to see a group of people collaborate with this level of consistency, care, and mutual respect over such a long period of time.
And of course, none of this exists without the community. To everyone who has built real applications, reported issues, offered feedback, written docs, helped others, and advocated for Aurelia: thank you. You’ve done far more than “support” the project, you’ve helped define what it is and proved what it can do in the real world.
I’m excited for what’s ahead. If the RC stage is any indication, the foundation is strong, and the trajectory is bright. I can’t wait to see what you all build with Aurelia 2.
